Watercolour. This was for our local art group monthly challenge on the theme of ‘Fairy-tale Creatures’. Actually quite hard to think of creatures from fairy-tales and I’m being really pendantic here. First of all, I am excluding all fantasy tales and absolutely NOT including fine works such as The Lord of the Rings which is in a class of it’s own.
Fairy-tales are stories like Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, anything including in those compilations by Ruth Manning-Sanders and so on, etc etc. As this is ‘Fairy-tale Creatures’, that excludes all people-characters. Then you’re basically left with a whole bunch of normal animals, if you think about it. Apart from a bunch of ogres and goblins. I did wonder whether to put a dragon in the picture as it’s not really a fairy-tale creature (I don’t think, anyway), but I couldn’t think of what else to stick in the space! Loads of fun to paint, though!
